Parks and Rec Board recommends Wendy Gravely and Carol Hatfield for appointment to Broadwater County board

The Broadwater County Parks and Recreation Board voted unanimously April 30 to recommend Wendy Gravely and Carol Hatfield to the county commissioners to fill two openings on the parks and recreation board.

The recommendations came after board chair Jen Dalerpa introduced the candidates and asked for questions; none were raised. "Okay. So I will entertain a motion to recommend Wendy to the county commissioners as a new member of the parks and rec board," Dalerpa said during the meeting.

The board recorded the procedural votes in short form: a motion was made and seconded for each recommendation and each passed by voice vote with all three members present saying "aye." The board said it will forward the endorsements in the meeting minutes to the commissioners for final appointment.

Why this matters: The parks board is advisory to the county commissioners; appointments to the board change who helps set priorities, solicit public input and liaise with community groups on parks projects.

Board members said the two candidates had submitted letters of interest and were welcomed at the meeting. Carol Hatfield briefly introduced herself and spelled her name for the record.
