The Broadwater County Board of Commissioners on April 16 approved a resolution declaring several county vehicles and pieces of equipment surplus and authorizing their disposal at public auction.
TJ Gravely, Broadwater County public works director, presented the resolution and described six pieces of equipment slated for disposal. Gravely read statutory guidance into the record, saying the county would dispose of items valued at less than $2,500 by consignment and items over $2,500 at public auction as allowed by “Montana code 7-8-22-17” and “7-8-22-12,” and that a private sale would be permitted if no bids were received under “Montana code 7-8-22-18.”
Gravely listed equipment to be declared surplus, including an older service truck, a 1989 Kenworth hook truck, a 1995 Kenworth tractor truck and a 1988 Peterbilt (to be salvaged and left on site for review). He also noted a Chevy snowplow and a GMC half-ton pickup would be addressed under a subsequent resolution.
A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded; commissioners approved by voice vote with no roll call tally recorded. The chair signed the resolution and staff said registration paperwork would be provided to the clerk for signature.
