At Monday’s board meeting the district presented the class of 2025 salutatorian and valedictorian and recognized the school resource officer for his work with students and staff.
Norwalk City School District recognized its top two seniors and its school resource officer during an educational-spotlight segment at Monday’s board meeting.
Superintendent Cooley introduced salutatorian Anna Osborne and said she graduated with a 4.1625 GPA and a 30 ACT score, noted her state tennis qualification and art accomplishments, and said she plans to speak at graduation and attend Bowling Green State University.
The board then recognized valedictorian Lillian Farmer, introduced with a 4.2375 GPA. Farmer told the board, "So I'm attending Ohio State University and majoring in pharmaceutical sciences to then pursue my RD to become a pharmacist." The superintendent and other speakers highlighted Farmer’s participation in orchestra, athletics and academic challenge programs.
The district also honored school resource officer Mike Conney, introduced as the district’s SRO in his second year. Multiple speakers praised his law-enforcement experience and relationship with students. Conney said the role had been “the greatest experience of my law enforcement life” and described it as life-changing. The superintendent and staff cited Conney’s safety training, drills and daily student interactions as reasons the district values the position.
The board applauded the students and Conney and thanked staff for supporting commencement and student activities; no board action was required for the recognitions.
