At its May 13 meeting the Morton Grove Village Board unanimously approved a set of routine operational measures: Resolution 25‑35 authorizing closure of Dempster Street for the village’s July 4 parade and multiple procurement resolutions awarding contracts for roofing, janitorial services, a water‑system leak survey and materials, plus Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) agreements for resurfacing several local roads.
Trustee Minkx moved approval of Resolution 25‑35 to close Dempster Street between Central and Lincoln Avenues for the July 4, 2025 parade, scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. The motion passed 6‑0. The board record notes that IDOT requires the village to adopt a resolution authorizing the closure and to assume responsibility for traffic control and any liabilities arising from closing the state route.
The board approved the following procurement resolutions (each passed 6‑0): • Resolution 25‑36: Award contract to DC Roofing Solutions Co., Inc. (Melrose Park) for storage garage roof restoration. • Resolution 25‑37: Award contract to Plus Quality Service, Inc. (Arlington Heights) for janitorial cleaning services. • Resolution 25‑38: Award contract to M.E. Simpson Co., Inc. (Valparaiso, IN) for the 2025 water distribution system leak survey. • Resolution 25‑39: Award contract to Builders Asphalt LLC (Hillside) for 2025 material supply.
The board also approved IDOT MFT agreements for resurfacing projects (Resolutions 25‑40 through 25‑43), covering Beckwith Road, Central Avenue, Grosse Pointe Road and Shermer Road; the MFT section numbers were read into the record for each agreement. Trustee Phil moved the IDOT agreements and Trustee Whitko seconded; each resolution passed by recorded voice vote of six ayes and no nays.
The meeting also included presentation and approval of the warrant register for May 13, 2025, in the amount of $1,109,458.52, which passed 6‑0. No discussion of bid protests, budget overrides or contract contingencies was recorded during the motions and votes.
These routine contracting and maintenance decisions will allow the village to proceed with roof repairs, janitorial services, a leak survey of the water distribution system, materials procurement for street work and scheduled resurfacing under MFT funding agreements with IDOT. The clerk called each roll; all listed resolutions passed unanimously.
Next steps noted in the meeting record: staff to finalize contract documents with awarded vendors and to coordinate with IDOT on scheduling and MFT disbursements. The board did not set final project start dates during the meeting.
