Fond du Lac YMCA honored with 2025 Friend of Education award for district partnerships

The Fond du Lac School District presented the 2025 Friend of Education award to the Fond du Lac YMCA in recognition of ongoing partnerships that staff said support students and families across grade levels.
Board President Moder and district staff highlighted several programs: YMCA‑run before‑school care operating in six elementary schools this year (with plans to expand), a districtwide water‑safety curriculum that reaches second graders, and YMCA support for more than 30 high‑school students participating in youth government programming. District staff said the YMCA also supports 4K programming, Girls on the Run (about 14 years of collaboration), and summer childcare partnerships with the Boys & Girls Club at district sites.
Representatives from the YMCA noted that the water‑safety pilot uses curriculum from YMCA of the USA and combines classroom lessons with pool practice; the YMCA’s aquatic director, Jenny Miltebrand, said she has delivered the program to nine schools so far this month. YMCA speakers also thanked the district and past boards for long‑term collaboration that they said has enabled the organization to expand services to students and families.
The presentation was ceremonial; no board action was required.
