Columbia Borough Council approved the purchase of a prefabricated, dual‑ADA bathroom for Mako Park from CXT under a CoStars contract, authorizing a not‑to‑exceed purchase price of $150,000.
The council motion (moved by Councilperson Stahl, second by Councilperson Kaufman) amended the earlier figure to give staff flexibility for selected upgrades such as anti‑graffiti coating, a metal roof and a timed locking system. Derek (staff member) said the initial quote had been lower but additional desirable options pushed budget estimates higher; staff asked for authority to finalize details and order the unit rather than tabling the item for further review.
Councilmembers asked about original quotes and potential upgrades; staff said the borough would perform additional due diligence on roof and finish options and then finalize the order. Staff requested that the borough permit the manufacturer to proceed once details are settled and the purchase price does not exceed the authorized cap.
