The Tuscaloosa City Public Works Committee approved a balancing, deductive change order of $19,635.09 to the Apex Civil construction contract for the Oak Strangement neighborhood drainage project.
Staff said the Oak Strangement Improvements are part of the city—s neighborhood drainage program in the Oaks neighborhood off North Ridge Road, behind the middle school. They showed before-and-after images depicting a failed corrugated metal pipe that had eroded an embankment and a completed repair that removed the hazard and protected a nearby home.
Staff described the item as a contract closeout reduction and said the deducted amount will be returned to the project fund. Committee members asked whether additional work remained in the Oaks neighborhood; staff said they were not aware of other drainage issues at this time.
The committee moved, seconded and approved the change order by voice vote.
