Tuscaloosa City Council finance committee members amended and approved two related water-and-sewer budget revisions that recognize excess interest income and transfer those funds into water-and-sewer project accounts, the committee said.
"This budget revision is, based off of the item that was briefed to you by Jeff Powell in projects committee regarding the sewer extension at the airport," said Miss Standridge, summarizing the item. "The budget revision ... is just recognizing some interest income that we have already earned that is over the budget that we previously adopted, and then transferring that into the waters through our RFI to be able to have the project expense be recognized there." She noted the figure discussed in projects committee was slightly lower than earlier estimates and that the committee could amend the amount.
Committee members moved to amend the amount to $51,500; the chair called for a voice vote. "All in favor, say aye," the chair said; "Aye" was the recorded response and the committee approved the amended amount and the budget revision. Committee members then approved the companion adjustment recognizing the transfer into the water-and-sewer reserve for future improvements; that motion also passed by voice vote.
The transcript records the actions as amendments and approvals by voice vote; no roll-call vote tallies were recorded. The revisions were described as bookkeeping to recognize earned interest income and to move those funds into the water-and-sewer project account to match the sewer-extension expense as briefed earlier by staff.
