The Tuscaloosa City Public Works Committee voted to approve a $96,950 minor public works contract with Building Specialties to rekey City Hall Annex Number 1.
Committee members said the work, funded from the city—s security enhancements account, covers material and installation of new locking hardware and panic devices across roughly 180 doors in Annex 1, which staff said has nearly 40-year-old hardware and high usage. Staff also said the work will address some Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility deficiencies in the building.
Committee members moved and seconded the item and approved it by voice vote. The committee did not provide a roll-call tally during the meeting record.
Staff and committee members characterized the cost as expected given the building—s size, age and number of doors. No changes to the contract terms or additional funding sources were discussed during the item.
The committee moved on to the next agenda item after approval.
