Beecher board approves $33,982 paving extension at new public safety facility; move contingent on internet hookup

The Village Board of Beecher on May 12 approved a $33,982 proposal from Workas Paving to extend the parking lot at the village’s new public safety facility.
Trustees were told the paving will expand the current 12 spaces to about 32 on that side of the building and, weather permitting, the work was projected to take place the following week. The board voted in favor of the proposal by roll call.
Board discussion also focused on remaining punch-list items at the new building, including a garage-floor issue that staff said is unresolved and under review by the contractor. Trustees reported that other items were minor cosmetic work and that HVAC and asphalt were largely complete.
Separately, staff said final move-in operations depend on Comcast completing a site survey and installing a modem to provide Internet and phone service. Village staff said they plan to move furniture in stages but that full operations require internet connectivity; a site survey was in process and staff hoped to resolve scheduling that week.
Why it matters: trustees said completing the parking and building punch list is needed to open the new facility and provide police operations space; internet and phone services are prerequisites for fully operating the building.
The board approved the paving proposal and directed staff to continue coordinating finishing work and vendor scheduling for internet service.
