The resolution, moved by Valella and seconded by McClellan, authorizes the district to include its portion of 916's LTFM levy on the district tax levy so funds can be collected and forwarded to Northeast Metro 916. District staff told the board that, based on the calculation method in the resolution, Spring Lake Park's share is roughly 6.2 percent of 916's total LTFM need; staff estimated the 916 total at about $600,000 and Spring Lake Park's portion at about $36,000.
"We are about 6.2% of the total amount that 9 16 needs to maintain their facilities, which is about 600,000. So our portion of that is about 36,000," said a district staff member presenting the item. The board took a roll-call vote and recorded affirmative votes from members present; the resolution passed.
A board member summarized the local tax impact in plain terms: on a hypothetical $400,000 house the added levy would amount to roughly $4 per year, per the discussion at the 9 16 meeting. District staff said the levy will be collected by the district and remitted to Northeast Metro 916 as a single invoice in the next school year.
