The planning committee told the council May 12 that the city’s comprehensive plan draft will be completed by early July and that the city remains on track to adopt the comp plan by the end of 2025. Planning Director John Coleman and the planning commission are finalizing the last goals and policies, the committee said, and the commission will review climate, parks and economic development elements before releasing the draft.
The committee also reported that a consultant is reviewing the city’s critical areas update to assess whether best-available science has changed since the last update in 2021. Public outreach has produced roughly 50 comments to date, the committee said, and staff will present a tracker sheet showing goals, policies and public comment when the draft is released.
No final action was taken; the discussion was an informational update and the planning commission will continue review and public outreach ahead of council-level consideration later in the year.
