Skate Dusky draws hundreds; city rolls out 2025 events calendar and readies weekend festivals

City event organizers reported that the recent Skate Dusky event at the Wheels Park drew hundreds of people, featured professional skaters, vendor activity and a bike giveaway, and that the city’s printed 2025 event calendar is now available.
“...the Wheels Park was crazy, busy,” Jason said, summarizing the turnout. Organizers noted they gave away 10 bikes donated by Huffy through Advocate Skate Works, five before the event and five at the event through a raffle.
Officials credited volunteers and partners — including Linda, Ryan, Eric Scott, Sean Carroll and Sean Patrick Thomas Daley from Halo — for organizing the new park launch and the Skate Dusky program. Event organizers said they wrapped the event by about 5:30–6 p.m.
Staff previewed upcoming family events, including the Whiteman Weaver safety fair and kids fun festival (with free T-shirts for the first 1,200 kids) and a Rendusky race-series event, “Laps for Lions,” scheduled Sunday at Lions Park. The city also produced a printed event calendar distributed at venues including Shores & Islands and the library; staff encouraged residents and businesses to pick up copies.
Next steps: organizers said they will continue distributing the event calendar at upcoming festivals and maintain coordination with volunteers and sponsors for summer events.
