Monroe awards $1.74M 2025 road‑repaving contract; 13 roads scheduled

The Monroe Township Council on May 20 awarded the 2025 municipal paving contract after receiving 13 bids, administration said, approving the base bid plus three add alternates for a total award of roughly $1,738,000.
Township project manager and public works staff told the council bids came in competitively and the contract covers repaving for approximately 13 roads across town. Administration said some paving will follow utility valve and water‑main work and that residents can expect work to begin as early as June in some neighborhoods.
Council members named a selection of roads included in the repaving plan: Deerpath, Lawrence Road, McFarland Circle, Highland Drive, part of Day Grove Road and Grace Hill Road were cited during Ward updates. The public works and utility departments will coordinate valve replacements and other preparatory work before paving crews begin final surface work.
Township Administrator Kevin McGowan and Public Works Director reported the contract includes the base bid and add alternates 1, 2 and 3; the low bidder had performed the 2024 paving program for the township and officials said the work had been satisfactory.
The council’s action was taken by roll call; funding for the project is included in the approved 2025 municipal budget.
