Belton ISD reports strong onboarding survey results, moves to formalize leadership pipeline

BELTON, Texas — At a workshop of the Belton Peninsula Board of Trustees on May 12, district staff presented year‑to‑date results from an onboarding survey tied to Goal 3 and outlined a leadership pipeline intended to develop assistant principals into principal‑ready candidates.

The district said about 2,530 employees completed the anonymous 30/60/90‑day and year‑end surveys used to assess onboarding. Todd (staff member), who led the presentation on the onboarding key progress measure, reported that across all staff 93.8% rated their onboarding experience within the 3–5 range and 79.3% rated it 4–5. He told trustees the district will use those survey data to refine onboarding practices by June 2025 as part of the Goal 3 KPM review.

While overall ratings were strong, staff and trustees identified recurring issues. Todd said a consistent concern was a lapse in ongoing mentor support — a “support person” metric that dipped midyear — and frequent comments about information overload during the first two weeks of employment. Trustees asked about response rates and campus breakdowns; staff said teacher responses ran roughly 35% and that campus‑level and department‑level disaggregation (for areas such as school nutrition) is possible and planned.
