Council recognizes Naija Music and Zaya Rhythm for musical contributions

The Honolulu City Council presented honorary certificates to brothers Naija Music and Zaya Rhythm in recognition of their musical accomplishments and community contributions.
Vice Chair (Council Member) Wier opened the presentation, saying the council "proudly recognizes 2 extraordinary young artists from the North Shore whose talent, dedication, and aloha have made waves far beyond our island shore." Council Member Toba (who also spoke during the recognition) praised the duo's artistry and community work.
Remarks credited the brothers with early musical training in family settings, performances at local events including Kainui Fest and the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational opening ceremony, and benefit concerts for community causes. The presentation noted a 2024 Mana Op showcase award, an April 5 performance with the Honolulu Symphony at the Hawaii Theatre, and a contribution to the soundtrack of Disney's upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch film (cited as a May 23 release) that included a rendition of Elvis Presley's "Burning Love" produced by a family member. Family members and local supporters were acknowledged in the chamber.
