County previews transportation funding outreach; CDOT moves forward on US‑287 Owl Canyon intersection work

Leslie Ellis, Larimer County community planning, infrastructure and resources director, told the board on May 5 that staff will begin public messaging and outreach about transportation funding needs tied to the county’s nearly completed transportation master plan. The plan will be returned to the planning commission for review and to the board for consideration in June, Ellis said.
Ellis said the county is working with a consultant to help the public understand transportation funding needs and that staff will provide information to commissioners and community members as outreach begins. She also said planned fee changes for engineering, building and planning tied to a July 1 effective date will be brought forward for review.
Ellis reported progress with the Colorado Department of Transportation on targeted safety work for U.S. 287. She said CDOT is in the process of awarding a contract for striping and related improvements at the Owl Canyon intersection, a project the county and the Livermore community have prioritized as part of a broader US‑287 safety action plan.
Ellis said additional calendar items include a May 14 work session with the planning commission on proposed code changes and forthcoming presentations about conservation-easement amendments and annual cost-of-living adjustments. Commissioners were briefed on these near-term schedule items and on plans for more regular Monday-afternoon work sessions.
