Commission awards County Road 23 resurfacing contract for $1.56 million

Heath Sexton, county engineer, asked the commission to accept bids and award the County Road 23 road improvement contract. Sexton said four acceptable bids were received and requested that the commission accept the bids and award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder.
The commission voted to accept the bids and subsequently awarded the contract for the County Road 23 project to Asphalt Contractors for $1,563,660. Commissioner Headley moved to award the contract; Commissioner Childers seconded the award and the motion passed unanimously.
Sexton also requested authorization to advertise for a separate resurfacing and traffic striping project; commissioners moved and approved advertisement for that bid as well. The engineering office will proceed with contract execution and scheduling with the awarded contractor.
