Grand County Road and Bridge presented commissioners with the sole bid for the county—s 2025 asphalt projects on multiple County Roads, and the board voted to accept that bid and allow staff to negotiate a future contract.
Road and Bridge supervisor David Buckley said United Companies submitted the only bid for County Road 511, 611, 532, 832 and 834, covering about 3.7 miles, with a bid amount of $2,000,503.04. Buckley told commissioners that this figure falls below the departmental budget; the department had previously removed about $5,221 from the budgeted amount to reallocate work on a separate County Road 1 project.
Buckley said United—s bid includes gravel transport and shaping that the county previously planned to perform, presenting an opportunity to negotiate cost savings by adjusting which party handles hauling. Commissioners accepted the bid award and instructed staff to negotiate final contract terms with United Companies and return with a formal contract for signature.
No recorded vote tally was provided in the public minutes beyond an affirmative voice vote. County staff said a formal contract will be presented to the board later and that negotiating the hauling responsibilities could free funds to pursue additional paving on County Road 1 at a later date.
