Plumas County opens public review of new Local Responsibility Area fire-hazard maps; adoption deadline set for June

Planning Director Tracy Ferguson introduced updated Local Responsibility Area (LRA) fire hazard severity zone maps at the March 11 Plumas County Board of Supervisors meeting and made the materials available for public review and comment.
Ferguson told the board the maps — produced by the Office of the State Fire Marshal under Senate Bill 63 (2021) — add “high” and “moderate” categories to the existing LRA “very high” designation and affect parcels in Quincy, East Quincy, Chester and Sierra Valley. She said county staff posted parcel-level maps and accompanying material online and in county offices and asked the board how it wanted staff to notify affected property owners and community groups during the 90-day review window.
