Grand County approves Hangar 26 ground lease at Granby Airport, backs $33,973 gate purchase

Grand County commissioners voted May 6 to approve a ground lease for Hangar 26 Granby Colorado Airport LLC and to purchase a security gate for the Granby Northwest Hangar Development Area.
Sean Mahorney, airport supervisor, said Hangar 26 will be a 60x80 foot (4,800 sq ft) hangar in the Northwest development area. This year’s prorated lease revenue for the county is $1,135.68; the full year projected lease will be $1,703.52 (at $0.3549 per sq ft) subject to CPI adjustments. The lease term is 25 years, concluding May 1, 2050, with an option to renew for an additional 25 years. The electrical hookup fee for the hangar is $5,742.92 for 1.5 lots used.
On a separate item, Mahorney presented a quote from Ideal Manufacturing for the gate at $33,973.02; the airport budgeted $25,000 for the gate this year, so the purchase would exceed the allocation by $8,973.02. Mahorney said installation would likely occur in 2026 and that savings in other airport lines (e.g., in‑house filter changes and reduced wages) make the supplemental spend feasible. Commissioners approved purchasing the gate and authorized the chair to sign applicable documents.
Mahorney also reported that an entitlement funds transfer (to rename the Granby airport contact for federal aviation funds) was still pending and not yet complete.
