Grand County approves amendments and construction observation contracts for EMS Station 1

County commissioners approved an amendment to Rocky Mountain Civil Consultants for $14,600 and a contract with Kumar and Associates for on‑site geotechnical observation and materials testing at the EMS Station 1 project, estimated at $48,820.
Project Manager Jeff Hickam told commissioners the amendment with Rocky Mountain Civil Consultants will make the consultant whole for pre‑final development services including sanitary sewer, water, traffic and drainage studies; the amendment totals $14,600. Hickam then described a contract with Kumar and Associates for on‑site construction observation, compaction and concrete testing and verification of structural elements during site work. Kumar estimated roughly 50 visits at four hours each, with a total contract value of $48,820. Commissioners voted to approve both contracts and allow the board chair to sign the documents. Hickam noted Kumar’s contract includes an added indemnity clause referencing negligent acts; county counsel reviewed the wording and asked commissioners to initial that change.
