The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners approved a corrected property-tax abatement and granted administrative denials on two related appeals during Monday’s meeting.
Assessor staff presented abatement 25-038, a redo of a prior abatement because a statutory $55,000 adjustment from SB 204-233 had not been applied in the earlier filing. Assessor staff said the corrected abatement amount is $19,382.24, an increase of $301.12 from the previously approved figure. After no public testimony, commissioners approved the corrected abatement and signed it for submission to the Colorado Department of Property Taxation, as required for abatements over statutory thresholds.
In two separate 2022 abatement items — 25-042 (account 009049) and 25-043 (account 530106) — the petitioners asked the board to administratively deny the county decision and proceed directly to the Board of Assessment Appeals. The board granted the requested administrative denials for both items, enabling those petitions to go forward to the state review process.
Commissioners closed the public hearings and recorded unanimous votes on the actions.
