Boulder County appoints Finn Jackson to Board of Adjustment

Robin Valdez of the commissioners’ office told the board the county received 93 applicants during the most recent recruitment cycle and appointed 65 people to various boards and commissions; recruitment is open for 43 positions with a July 7 deadline. Valdez said the Board of Adjustment vacancy was opened in October 2024, closed in January 2025 and, after remaining open for six months, produced an application from Jackson that the department director recommended for appointment.
Commissioners asked how often the Board of Adjustment meets and how heavy its docket is; Valdez replied it typically meets once a month but sometimes cancels when there are no agenda items. One commissioner said the board does not set policy but decides zoning variances and noted the position is sometimes seen as impactful. The board discussed, but did not decide on, the broader idea of merging the Board of Adjustment and the Planning Commission; one commissioner said they would follow up with staff on that question.
Commissioner 1 moved to appoint Finn Jackson to the Board of Adjustment; Commissioner 2 seconded. The motion passed on an affirmative voice vote.
Valdez’s office will complete the administrative onboarding for the appointee and the clerk’s office will reflect the appointment in the county’s boards and commissions roster.
