The Wausau City Council Finance Committee voted Tuesday to approve budget modifications to carry forward capital project funds unspent at the end of 2024 into the 2025 budget year.
Mary Anne, a city staff member, told the committee staff reviewed projects uncompleted at the end of 2024 and recommended carrying remaining funds forward to finish those projects. "Most of these, if not all of them, we already have contracts in place. They're already underway," Mary Anne said, adding that airport projects may start this year while others are continuations of previously funded work.
Committee member Henke moved approval of the carryover request and Tierney seconded. The motion passed by voice vote with no roll‑call recorded.
The committee did not debate any detailed item‑by‑item reallocation during the meeting; staff did not flag additional funding needs during the discussion. Staff will proceed to apply carried balances to complete the listed capital projects as part of the 2025 implementation of those contracts.
