The Wausau Board of Public Works on May 14 approved payment for downtown/Wausau Mall Redevelopment Phase 2 and agreed to keep REI Engineering on site for environmental documentation.
The board approved pay estimate No. 1 to the developer’s team in the amount stated in the meeting as $181,820.96 for the Phase 2 work. Separately, the board discussed and approved an agreement to retain REI Engineering on-site to document contaminated soils and track materials sent to landfill; a staff speaker said REI’s presence would support documentation required by the Department of Natural Resources and that the firm’s rates are hourly.
A staff member said Kevin Fable recommended keeping REI on site to maintain documentation for DNR. The motion to approve the pay estimate and the motion to retain REI Engineering were each moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
No additional fiscal contingencies or timelines for REI’s work were recorded on the public record during the meeting.
