The Planning Commission on May 13 recommended annexation of a 0.58‑acre Furlough Park Boulevard parcel that was connected to city water and sewer in 2024. Planning staff said the county zoning was multifamily residential and that, upon annexation, the only appropriate city zoning classification for the site is apartment residential.
Staff described contiguousness to existing city limits on multiple sides and said public facilities are in place. Commissioners agreed the parcel’s existing connections and the comprehensive plan designation supported annexation; a motion to accept the annexation recommendation carried. No opposition testimony was offered.
Because the action is a recommendation to council, the City Council will consider annexation and zoning when it takes up the matter at a future public hearing.
