Orange County board approves $320,000 workers' compensation settlement for retired deputy

The Orange County Board of Supervisors on a 4-0 vote approved a proposed $320,000 workers' compensation settlement in the case of retired Deputy Sheriff Joseph Bacarro, the board reported after returning from closed session.
County Counsel told the board the meeting was held pursuant to Government Code sections 54957.6 and 54956.9 and that the board, on a vote of 4 to 0 with Supervisor Sarmiento absent, approved the proposed settlement. "The settlement remains subject to final approval of others," County Counsel said.
County Counsel said Bacarro is a retired deputy sheriff II who sustained cumulative trauma to his hearing, cardiovascular system, spine, wrists and feet. When the settlement is finalized, copies of the agreement will be made available through the Office of the CEO, Risk Management to any person who inquires, County Counsel said.
Beyond that item, County Counsel reported the board took no other reportable action in closed session and the meeting was adjourned.
