Mono County to begin new strategic planning in spring with Institute for Local Government

County Administrative Officer Sandra Mobley told the Mono County Board of Supervisors that the county plans to launch a strategic planning process in March or April 2025 with the Institute for Local Government (ILG).
Mobley said the county’s previous strategic plan ran through 2024 and that officials preferred to seat a new supervisor before beginning a new planning cycle. She said ILG, a nonprofit that provides governance and strategic-planning services statewide, will help the county with the process and that more information will follow in coming weeks.
Mobley also previewed that the board’s budget presentation and five-year forecast will be on next week’s agenda and that strategic planning will be discussed further in that context. No board action was taken at the meeting beyond the informational report.
The report establishes a timeline for staff and board engagement on county priorities and signals that staff will return with a formal plan and opportunities for board and public input later in the spring.
