The Dickinson ISD Board of Trustees approved Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) No. 1 for the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) building in the amount of $39,162,622. District representatives told the board the GMP is under the project's budget and commended the architect and contractor for helping reduce costs.
Aaron Sanders, identified on the record as an architect from IBI, and David Oakes, identified as a contractor from Mechanical Construction, addressed the board. A district speaker said the firms had played significant roles “in bringing this project under budget,” and noted input from board member Mackey and Superintendent Dr. Brown. The board approved the GMP by motion, received a second (record shows a second by Rodriguez), and the vote was recorded as unanimous.
After the vote, a board member said, “Get to work. We'll see y'all on next Thursday for the ground breaking,” and the transcript records “Uno de Mayo,” indicating the district expects a ground-breaking event the following Thursday. The board also noted prior use of the architectural firm and contractor on other district projects and expressed confidence in their work.
The motion and approval were taken during the public meeting; the transcript does not record a line-item breakdown of the GMP, funding sources in detail, or the full construction schedule. The board received and approved the recommendation from district leadership to accept GMP No. 1 at the stated amount.
