The ALIEF ISD Education Foundation told trustees Tuesday it received a $10,000 donation from the Fred & Mabelle Art Parks Foundation to support associate teachers preparing for certification exams.
During the March 18 meeting, the foundation's liaison said 42 applications for the associate teacher grant were submitted and all were approved. The liaison thanked Patricia Summers, Angela Chapman and the district HR department for their help during the application review.
Raquel Olivier, identified as president of the foundation board, thanked the community and district for supporting the grants and said the funding will help associate teachers take the next step in certification and career advancement. The presenters invited the approved associate teachers to take a group photo with trustees and foundation leaders.
The presentation did not specify the amount awarded to each recipient, the timeline for fund distribution, or whether the foundation expects further donations for the program. The board took no formal action; the announcement was part of the meeting's recognition and foundations segment.
