Court approves $5,500 hydrologic and hydraulic study for three county roads to support mitigation grant

Anderson County Commissioners Court approved a task order with Belvin & Weeks Consulting Engineers (Melvin & Weeks) for a hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis on County Roads 404, 406 and Crowder Road 8420 to support a mitigation grant application.
Commissioner Hill told the court the stretch of County Road 404 floods where two hills funnel water into a low spot; the analysis will determine appropriate culvert sizing and flow direction and will be used to apply for grant funding. Scott Campbell of Belvin & Weeks explained the firm inspected the site and prepared a task order for the study. County staff confirmed the firm quoted $5,500 for the work.
Commissioner Chavin moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Mims seconded. The motion passed. County staff said the study is required for the grant application and that it will identify the needed culvert sizes and design direction for subsequent construction work if the county pursues the grant.
