Pittsburg Area Young Professionals recruit volunteers for April 26 cleanup; county offers coordination help

Becca Harland, president of the Pittsburgh Area Young Professionals, asked the Crawford County Commission to help publicize and coordinate volunteers for the group's sixth annual Earth Day trash cleanup on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Harland said the group will staff three locations: a site by Meadowlark School in Pittsburg, Bison Park on Highway 69 and an area north of Arma. She said volunteers can sign up through the group's Facebook page or a SignUpGenius form and that the city of Pittsburg has donated high‑visibility vests. Harland asked if the county had a convenient cross point for supplies and parking; a commissioner suggested using the county‑owned building near Twisters for staging.
Discussion addressed logistics and pickup: Harland said she did not yet know which agency would collect trash from county roads and that she had been in touch with county staff and with Matt Sanders as a possible supplier for supplies. A commissioner suggested KDOT might handle pickup for some state roads and offered county road staff as a Saturday option if needed.
Harland said the Pittsburgh Area Young Professionals has about 60 active members and run other community programs including a bike drive and help for school lunch debts. She asked commissioners and staff to help share the volunteer sign‑up information and to coordinate supplies and pickup where possible.
