Chad Bunger, director of development services for Hastings City, announced his resignation during the April 15 Planning Commission meeting, saying he has accepted a position with the engineering and planning firm Freese Nichols Incorporated in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bunger told the commission he had submitted his letter of resignation a few weeks earlier and that his move was prompted by a strong job offer. He said, “I accepted a position, with an engineering and planning firm in, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Freese Nichols Incorporated, planning firm that, I have a lot of respect for, and they gave me a really good offer.” He described his time in Hastings positively and said he organized his work to leave projects in order for staff.
Commissioners thanked Bunger for his service. Vice Chair Chuck Rosenberg and Commissioner Michelle Lewis both praised his work in moving the department forward and wished him well. Bunger did not give a final departure date at the commission meeting; he said he had submitted his resignation and was focused on closing out work.
No formal personnel action was taken at the meeting; the announcement was delivered as part of staff reports.
