Board members generally supported a hybrid approach: keep a short statement in policy that audits will be performed and place the detailed monthly/annual audit steps into procedure so the district can update them more easily. Several board members said they wanted the policy to retain a high-level auditing statement so the policy still communicates governance-level expectations while the how-to auditing steps are managed administratively.
No final board vote on the policy occurred that evening; staff indicated they would separate the audit language into a procedure and bring the item back on the business agenda for a future meeting.
