Colfax County to advertise bids for four‑unit hangar, hangar door replacement and fuel containment pad at Angel Fire Airport

Colfax County commissioners approved advertising for bids on the Angel Fire Airport hangar and fuel‑farm containment project after staff and consultants described the scope and schedule. The advertised work covers construction of a new four‑unit hangar, replacement of an existing hangar door, and construction of a fuel containment pad and canopy, with the containment pad tied to a separate state grant, project manager Mike Provine told the commission.

Provine said the county plans to advertise on Sunday and open bids on June 24 at the County Building, with a pre‑bid conference at the airport on June 3 at 10:30 a.m. He said staff are working with the state to obtain prevailing wage rates from Workforce Solutions for the procurement. "We expect to open bids on the June 24," Provine said.

Provine also said staff prioritized bid lots to try to fit available funding: hangar doors are first priority, hangar construction second, and the containment pad and canopy as lower priorities depending on bids. He said some firms have already expressed interest, including one firm from Texas communicating with the village. The county and the Village of Angel Fire have agreed that the village will handle taxiway regrading at the hangar location; that work is not included in the county bid package.

Commissioners approved the advertisement and set the procurement schedule; staff said work must be completed by June 2026 under grant terms, and that initial concrete work could take place this summer with building work continuing into next year if required.
