The Owasso Public Schools Board of Education voted to hire Jake Bray as assistant principal at the Eighth Grade Center after convening an executive session authorized under Oklahoma statute title 25 subsection 307(b)(1).
The board first moved into executive session to discuss the hiring of a single individual for the assistant-principal position. The executive-session minutes recorded that board members present were Stephanie Ruttman, Rhonda Mills, Neil Kessler, Brent England and Frosty Turpin; Superintendent Margaret Coates and Director Mark Officer (presenter) also attended. The statement released after the session said the board discussed the hiring of one individual, nothing else was discussed and no votes were taken in executive session.
After returning to open session the superintendent recommended Jake Bray for the Eighth Grade Center assistant principal role. A board member made a motion to hire Bray; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with all five members voting yes. The board welcomed Bray and asked whether he had anyone with him at the meeting.
The board did not discuss contract terms on the public record beyond making the motion to hire and voting to approve the appointment.
