The additional $1 million would raise this year’s available road funding and keep crews from pausing projects.
Commissioners discussed the trade-offs and timing; one commissioner said the county’s priority is to keep road work moving and another noted the appropriation will require second reading if formally executed as an appropriation. The commission approved the request and agreed to present it again for the required second-reading procedural step.
Staff said the additional funds will be used to continue scheduled road work this season and avoid project slowdowns.
