Hillsborough schools recognized for multiple district and state championships, including Bloomingdale and Strawberry Crest

Highlights included Bloomingdale High School's girls basketball team, which presenters described as the school's first girls state championship and one of four state titles in Hillsborough County history; Strawberry Crest's cheer program, which presenters said earned its 11th consecutive state championship; and Plant High School's lacrosse team, which presenters and the principal described as the district's first state lacrosse champion.
Athletic recognitions also covered many middle-school district champions (soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and flag football) and high-school individual track and field champions (Middleton, Durant, Plant City, Sumner were among schools named). Robinson High School's girls flag football and teams such as Alonzo, Gaither and others were recognized for state-level success across spring sports.
District athletic staff and school principals used the recognition time to list rosters and coaches and to note academic standards maintained by some teams. The recognitions were ceremonial; no policy or budget votes occurred during the meeting.
