City staff prepares AUAR schedule, joint session ahead of potential 250‑acre annexation for technology park

The staff presentation included a draft schedule and invited the commission to a joint planning commission–city council work session at 5 p.m. next Tuesday to review timing and decision points.
Commissioners and staff emphasized public transparency and outreach. Commissioner Chris urged proactive public information and suggested an FAQ format that responds to recurring questions such as water consumption and timelines. Staff said the city has updated the AUAR schedule on its website and that Tract will prepare FAQs based on questions submitted; staff also said written public comments will be included in the AUAR record and submitted to the consultants for response.
Staff described AUAR scope and next steps: the AUAR will evaluate environmental and infrastructure impacts and help set parameters for what land uses and mitigation measures are feasible. Staff said the AUAR will inform city decisions about capacity (for example, water) and potential mitigation, but that many technical details remain to be determined. "This is our process. Like, we know where the decisions are made," staff said, describing the intent to build sufficient time into the schedule so commission and council members have the information they need before formal decisions.
No formal actions or approvals were taken; the item was informational and scheduled for further joint discussion. Staff asked commissioners to review the draft schedule and bring comments to the upcoming work session; staff will continue to update the city website with AUAR materials and FAQs and accept written public comments for the record.
