The Acadia Parish School Board on its May meeting adopted the 2025 millage rates that will be placed on the 2025 property tax roll for several school districts in the parish.
Board members adopted a resolution listing specific millage rates, including a 4.93 mill constitutional tax, a 4.81 mill school maintenance tax and district-specific millages such as 13.19 mills for Fifth Ward maintenance and 14.401 mills for another school district as read into the record. The resolution directs parish administrative officials to spread the taxes on the 2025 assessment roll and to collect them “according to law,” making the levies a lien on property subject to taxation.
The board recorded a motion to adopt the resolution and conducted a roll-call vote; the motion carried with affirmative votes recorded. No amendments to the rates were made during the meeting.
The millage resolution was read aloud during the meeting and included the statutory-style recitals that the levies will become a permanent lien on properties subject to taxation and that collection will be enforced as provided by law. The board did not provide additional statutory citations during the reading.
The action advances the parish’s formal tax levy for 2025; the board also authorized the administrative steps required to place the rates on the assessment roll and pursue collection in accordance with applicable law.
Details read into the record (as read by the board) include: constitutional tax 4.93 mills; school maintenance 4.81 mills; Fifth Ward maintenance 13.19 mills; consolidated school district 8 9.76 mills; a school district rate of 14.401 mills; and school district 6 rate 10.607 mills (rates presented in the resolution as read at the meeting).
