Trustee John proposed tightening item C to read, in effect, “create and facilitate strong community connections so that volunteers become empowered in their knowledge and advocate for the library,” removing extraneous verbiage referencing broader community services. Trustees voted to approve the policy as amended; staff will incorporate the change and finalize the document.
The motion was made and seconded and passed with no recorded opposition. Trustees noted the amendment would not change the policy’s intent but would improve clarity for staff and volunteer supervisors.
The board recorded adoption of Policy 505 with the friendly amendment as a formal action.
