The Nixa City Council approved on second reading Council Bill 2025‑13 on May 13, vacating a right‑of‑way granted in 1996 that planning staff said was intended for a north–south road but was never constructed and is now occupied by homes in the Wicklow/Wooden Bridge area.
Planning and Development Director Scott Gabbi told the council the right‑of‑way was never used or preserved as originally intended and staff has no plan to acquire property now occupied by homes. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended unanimous approval and staff recommended the council vacate the unused right‑of‑way to resolve potential title concerns, a point raised by a commercial property owner on the north end of the corridor.
Councilmember discussion included a request for maps and local clarifications; staff noted a map was available in the packet. The council opened and closed a public hearing with no speakers. A motion to approve the ordinance was made by Shawn Lucas, seconded by Aaron Peterson, and passed on roll call.
