Council moves to accept supplemental agreement for Cheyenne Road multiuse path engineering-to-construction funding

At the May 13 meeting the Nixa City Council heard a first reading of Council Bill 2025‑17, authorizing the mayor to execute a Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Transportation Enhancement Fund supplemental agreement for the Cheyenne Road multiuse path project.
Street Superintendent Jeff Gassol told the council the city received an earlier grant for engineering in 2023 and that the grant required certain milestones be reached to remain eligible for additional construction funding. “We have reached these milestones and are now requesting permission to enter into this agreement, the supplemental agreement for construction funds to move forward with the project,” Gassol said. He confirmed the path will run in front of Summit and High Point schools and connect into the Cheyenne Valley neighborhood sidewalks.
Gassol said staff would be happy to answer questions; council had no substantive objections and opened and closed a public hearing with no speakers.
The bill was presented as a first reading; if the supplemental agreement is executed, it would permit the city to pursue construction funding under the Transportation Enhancement Fund for the multiuse path connecting schools and neighborhoods.
