WICHITA COUNTY, Texas — The Wichita County Commissioner's Court on May 13 approved a $28,800 purchase agreement with Dara Texas LLC to buy 14.4 acres intended to host a new county radio tower in Electra and to expand a Precinct 4 equipment yard.
County staff told commissioners the purchase supports a planned radio tower and yard improvements for Precinct 4 and that the transaction was prepared with county counsel. The court also authorized $1,000 in earnest money to secure title while final details are completed.
During discussion, the court raised a tax issue tied to the seller. The county tax assessor reported there were unpaid taxes on other portions of Dara’s holdings in Wichita County; the assessor’s figure for outstanding county taxes was read into the record as roughly $314,756.11. County staff said handling of that arrearage is being coordinated as part of the purchase and added the seller is on an active payment plan and in good standing with monthly payments.
Motion and outcome: Commissioner Beauchamp moved to approve the purchase agreement and earnest money; the motion was seconded and carried 5‑0.
Funding and next steps: The county judge and staff said earnest money will be paid from department 409 with final line items determined by the county auditor. The purchase agreement includes language to address tax arrearages and will be handled in coordination with county tax counsel.
