The board ratified an Interest-Based Negotiation (IBN) agreement with the Green River Education Association after a presentation from district labor representatives.
Christy Portrait summarized the IBN outcome and said the GRE membership overwhelmingly approved the agreement: "We are happy to announce that we are 97% in favor of this ratification and appreciate your efforts to communicate," she told trustees. Portrait also said the district and association will form a special committee to look at teacher and staff retention.
Board members moved to ratify the agreement; the motion was made and seconded and passed by voice vote. Trustees congratulated the bargaining teams and noted the process would be used again in future contract discussions.
Portrait told the board the district would continue the retention work and that both the board and the association would engage in continuing conversations to sustain staffing levels and morale.
