McAllen ISD trustees elect Aaron Rivera president; Lucia Regalado vice president, Dr. Kittleman named secretary

Following the certification and swearing in of trustees, the McAllen Independent School District board moved to reorganize officers at the special May 13 meeting.
Superintendent René Gutierrez opened nominations for board president. Trustee Aaron Rivera was nominated and, after a motion to close nominations and a second, the board voted 7-0 to elect Rivera as board president. Trustee Rivera accepted and briefly addressed the audience, saying the board is “here to work together for the betterment of our community and for the district.”
Nominations for vice president produced two names. Trustee Lucia Regalado was nominated and seconded; Trustee Roberto Haddad was also nominated but declined the nomination. The board voted 7-0 to elect Regalado as vice president.
For board secretary, trustees nominated Dr. Kittleman; a second was recorded and the motion passed 7-0, electing Dr. Kittleman to the post.
All officer elections were made by open voice vote and carried unanimously. The board adjourned after completing reorganizational business.
