The administration recommended board approval of a five‑year contract valued at $1,152,058; the board moved and seconded the recommendation and approved it by roll call. Members voting in favor included Member Perez, Member Pipkin, Member Heil, Member Shrova, Secretary Sutterland and President Pro Tem Campbell.
Board members asked whether the contract represented a substantial change from the previous agreement. Administration said costs rose in line with market factors such as fuel, but that the bid process produced competitive pricing and that the district also considered vendors'ability to meet timing requirements so trash and recycling services are completed before students arrive at school.
The contract award will result in the district entering a five‑year service relationship with Waste Management, with implementation and vendor performance oversight handled by the district's operations staff.
