McAllen ISD board proclaims May 2025 Mental Health Awareness Month

Trustee Erica De La Garza Lopez read the text and attested the proclamation, which was seconded by Trustee Sofia Mercier Pena; the board approved the item by a 7-0 vote.
The board and administration invited scholarship recipients and staff to the front for the proclamation, including Chanel De Leon and Daniela Sofia Osondo (scholarship recipients), Norma Cabrera (director for college, career and counseling) and Adrian Garza (family treatment program manager). The administration recommended adoption of the proclamation.
The action was procedural: the board adopted the proclamation recognizing mental health awareness and publicly honoring students and staff involved with district supports. The board did not take additional, binding policy or budget actions tied to the proclamation during the meeting.
