CMSD board votes to terminate one teacher, approves notices of nonrenewal for two limited contracts

The termination resolution was presented in public session and described by Dr. Morgan as action "to authorize the termination of a teaching employee for violation [of] district policies, procedures, and rules." After discussion the board voted 8‑1 to adopt the termination resolution; Pastor Jones cast the lone no vote. Miss Ellicott and eight other board members voted yes.
The board then adopted a resolution giving notice of intention not to renew the limited or extended limited contracts of two teachers; Dr. Morgan said the two teachers' names and positions appear in exhibit A to the resolution and that the board will consider the final resolutions on those contracts next month. The roll call on the nonrenewal notice was unanimous, 9‑0.
The chair later moved the board into executive session for discussion of personnel matters, negotiations and pending or imminent litigation; roll call was affirmative and the board recessed into executive session. The board announced it would return briefly to adjourn and said no additional public business would be conducted after the second executive session.
Ending: staff noted the nonrenewal notices are an initial step and that the board will vote on final contract nonrenewal next month; the termination is final in this public action and recorded by roll call.
